Harpoon

Estimated read time 1 min read

A harpoon weapon, with a rope or chain. Once lodged in target you can attempt to pull the person closer to you.

It has a short range, but has good damage, because of that serrated and jagged harpoon head.

Info below is based on the D&d 5e ruleset.

  • Item name: Harpoon
  • Cost: 100 gp
  • Details: 1d8 + Strength Mod
  • Weight: 7 lb
  • Properties:

Reach 5ft. or range (range 20/60), one target. If the target is a large or smaller creature, it must succeed on a Strength contest against the user or be pulled up to 20 feet toward the user.

You can attack as per normal with the harpoon, using an attack, but to pull the target closer, requires an additional attack.

For example a level 5 fighter, can attack twice using the attack action. Thus attack with the harpoon and using the second attack to use the “pull” feature.

A character that has only one attack, per attack action, must spend two attack actions (ie. two rounds).
