The deadly brother. He was 18 days into his search for his spirit. The shaman told him to scout the south slopes of the Krulnaro mountains. Between the fynbos plants, hardy and just, he would find his boon.
A bull was about to leave the area, when it saw the prince scouting higher up on a ridge. Axe left their sheaths. The rage in his blood, as a half-orc, pushed him into a fervor. Catapulting himself from rock to rock, he felt bushes scratch at unarmored flesh, pushing him towards to point he has to be.
To accept the animal’s spirit, your inner-self needs to be open up, needs to be feral as well.
The hunt is on
A wild swing into the rhino’s neck, was enough to set the animal off. Rhino hide, met his face as he just found his footing. The blow made him aware of the power of the beast he is fighting. A fast step from the animal, had a large horn almost impaling the young barbarian, but it did knock his one axe clean out of his hands.
As the beast rushes past him, he uses his open hand to help drive the axe blade into his side belly. Blood sprayed him as he ripped a large gushing slash into the beast.
Taking a second too long to enjoy the moment, he just hears the heavy breathing behind him as heavy hoofs, stomped him into the soil, rocks and wild bushes. Luckily the beast has now felt the loss of blood and slowly treks back to his path.
“I need to kill it now”, the prince tells himself. They are taught at a young age, if you do not kill your assigned beast, you chance might only come again years later, if ever. If he dies on his own, the spirit goes to nature.
Last chance
He forces himself to rise, past the pain in his rib-cage, the stinging pain in his leg and the burning pain in his lungs. He walks past his other axe, that got lost in the mettle. With a great roar as he lifts the axe up to throw, he feels the wild pain in chest even more. With a more painful scream he lets the axe fly towards the already opened gash.
Feeling the pace of a fight building again, he builds a run. From a slow trot, to a pacing run, he loosens a chain arounds his torso. Hooks it to the axe and with another lively jump he swings the axe around the neck and starts to choke it to death.
“With death there is life, with spirit there is power. Your power is mine, our spirits entwine”, he chants as he feels the rhino slow in pace and finally succumb.
Dust puffs into the air as the animal lies down. The barbarian now rises, gaining back his breath as he waits with intent. A green and blue beastly spirit rises. First softly out of the animal and then with speed into the open maw of the barbarian.
The pain in his chest dissapears, muscles pulls with power and a primal scream roars from Deonr. The prince of death finally rises with the spirit of a great rhino inside of him.
